Jaú National Park, nestled in the Brazilian state of Amazonas, is a sprawling conservation unit spanning 2,367,333 hectares, making it the fourth-largest forest reserve in Brazil.
Serving as a crucial bastion for biodiversity, it boasts the third-largest intact tropical rainforest globally.
The park is dedicated to preserving its diverse ecosystems for scientific, cultural, educational, and recreational purposes.

Day 1 – MANAUS // NOVO AIRÃO // ANAVILHANAS (A,J)
Begin your journey with a transfer to the Novo Airão boat, setting sail on an air-conditioned vehicle. After a lunchtime arrival in Novo Airão, embark on the Katerre Expedition through the Anavilhanas archipelago.
Enjoy sightings of dolphins and seasonal birds as you explore the Rio Negro. Experience a refreshing swim, followed by a visit to the Madadá viewpoint.
A light dinner is served on board, and you have the option to spend the night in the boat’s cabin or in hammocks at the Mirante, a two-storey bungalow in the forest with a splendid view of the Rio Negro.
Day 2 – ANAVILHANAS // MADADÁ (C,A,J)
Wake up in Madadá and embark on a 3-hour trek through the primary forest to the Madadá Caves, followed by a walk through a caboclo farm.
After a dive in the Rio Negro, continue your journey to Praia do Sono for piranha fishing and a community visit.
Spend the night anchored on the beach or by the creek.
Day 3 – JAÚ NATIONAL PARK (C,A,J)
Begin the day at Praia do Sono, heading to Jaú National Park with stops at the ruins of Airão Velho and petroglyphs (high water).
Explore the park, witnessing the majestic Samaúma tree and sailing down the Rio Jaú. The itinerary varies based on the season, offering either a flying boat trip through dryland Igarapés or an incursion down the Pauini River during the dry season.
Enjoy a nighttime canoe trip at Aturiá Community.
Day 4 – JAÚ NATIONAL PARK (C,A,J)
Anchor at the Aturiá Community, engaging in cultural exchanges, orchard visits, and a water trail in a fisherman’s canoe to spot local wildlife.
Take a refreshing bath in the Jaú River’s waterfall.
Day 5 – NOVO AIRÃO // MANAUS (C,A)
Embark on the return trip from Jaú to Novo Airão, interacting with Botos Cor de Bosa. Explore Novo Airão, visit artisan workshops, and enjoy a farewell lunch at the Flor do Luar Floating Restaurant.
The transfer to Manaus concludes the expedition.
